Kronotex’s high density fibreboard (HDF) panel serves as a base board in the manufacture of laminate flooring.

The technical expertise for HDF production was the foundation stone from which Kronotex GmbH & Co. KG rose to become the most important laminate flooring manufacturer in Europe.

In EN 316, MDF (medium density fibreboard) panels with a bulk density of > 800 kg/m³ are described as HDF.

Kronotex GmbH & Co.KG produces HDF panels in thicknesses between 6 and 12 mm. The bulk density of this special HDF panel is 870-900 kg/m³.

Base boards for laminate flooring are subject to stringent requirements in terms of product quality. Kronotex GmbH & Co. KG’s HDF panel satisfies these with its even bulk density distribution and high mechanical strengths. The 24-hour swelling values, for example, are below 10% in the case of an 8 mm thick HDF panel.

The use of highly resinous pine wood from the Mark Brandenburg has a positive effect on the swelling behaviour of Kronotex GmbH & Co. KG’s HDF panel. As a member of the laminate flooring quality association, our products are subject to high quality requirements which can only be satisfied with correspondingly high production quality of the HDF base boards used.

Only with consistent procedures monitored online (e.g. Stenograph bulk density profile gauges) as practiced at Kronotex can the product quality be kept at a high level. At the moment approximately 150,000 m² per day are processed into laminate flooring at the Kronotex plant.
