Kronoply Compact Wood is a panel made from strips of veneer (strands) made from pine that are 120 mm long, laid in 3 layers crosswise. This guarantees a very high dimensional stability and high mechanical properties. The values for the Kronoply Compact Wood panel lie far below the requirements made in the E1-Guidelines for formaldehyde emission.
The pine strips are pressed into panels using high temperatures and high pressure. The Conti Finish panel surface gives the Kronoply Compact Wood water resistant and diffusion resistant properties. In comparison with chipboard the Kronoply Compact Wood panel has considerably better mechanical properties and makes lower panel thicknesses possible. A 22 mm Kronoply Compact Wood panel is adequate there where e.g. a 30 mm thick chipboard panel would be needed.
This results in savings in material and weight of the construction, which are of benefit to fabrication and transport. Furthermore a thinner panel provides additional space for living area or heat insulation. Clips, nails or screws can be used as fasteners.
The panels are machined using the usual equipment designed for woodworking e.g. handheld circular saw. The use of carbide tipped tools is recommended. Storey height formats avoid horizontal joints and contribute to the building impermeability. Panel formats co-ordinated to the manufacturing grid of 62.5 cm make for efficient working.
Kronoply Compact Wood panels are uniform in Conti Finish and ground surface as well with tongue and groove on 4 sides e.g. for use as flooring panels.
